Niall from The Can-D Food Co. was looking to launch a new brand for his ‘Candy’ Smoked Salmon, a new product for the UK market.
He wanted the branding to feel playful, yet also retain a high-end premium feel. Due to the product’s Canadian roots, we discussed incorporating a bear in some way (with its connection to salmon). To work, the bear would need to work in such as way that wouldn’t limit future product development, such as the Candied Smoked Bacon. The final work features a simplistic bear, with the product in its jaws. Using this as the focal point for the packaging lended itself nicely to the die-cut packaging, along with an opposing die-cut on the reverse to maximise light through the product (in the case of the salmon – another stipulation for the brief, so the product’s colour could be showcased).
